Watch It Happen In Reel Time

There is so much incredible art online. Absolutely phenomenal illustrators showcasing examples of their craft that leave viewers wondering “Seriously, how did they do that?!” The final product is always a testament to years, if not a lifetime of perfecting a skill, but what about the how?

We were fortunate enough to get on the TikTok bandwagon after it had been long established as platform to not only display art, but even show the journey of making the art. There will always be a debate as to whether or not to show how the Sketch Sausage gets made, but personally I think revealing how it happens, shows potential clients, employers, and would be artists who see the process, it adds a level of transparency that inspires trust. You can do this too.

Tiki Inking

Going to be real with you, this was not only inspired by the 90’s, but also my Creative Director really, and I mean really loves Tikis. One of the first first projects I was put on was redesigning the Cocoa Beach Pier. I was not even at my first 90 days of hired, and this was a tribute to him for hiring me, and our mutual love of the 90’s Era, and tikis. This was the inking of the sketch from that very inspiration.

Biblical Characters, Joab King David’s Army Commander, Sketch

I never hide the fact that I am a Believer. Part of being a Christian is not just faith, but also finding ways to celebrate/educate the history of my faith. Everyone knows the story of David, but not everyone knows the story of Joab, his army Commander. Joab was really, and I mean really enthusiastic about his job as a military leader. The world would be a better place with a Joab and Friends Saturday morning cartoon, so this is that as a concept. I really wanted to capture his personality, and have an established style across all of the characters.

Dragon Inking

Another example of my participation in Inktober, Dragons are one of those timeless art subjects that are pretty much universally well received. The whole point of this section is to take the mystery out of the service I provide, and show how how a sketch becomes an inked concept. Dragons are cool right?

Journey Sniff Inking

This one was more than just someone’s pet. I affectionately refer to all dogs as “Sniffs” a name one of my friends designated for all four legged friends. One of our very first TikTok friends reached out to us that lost her Sniff, Journey suddenly and tragically. She asked if there was anyway her beloved friend could be preserved in Ry Style. There was no hesitation to answer the call to celebrate the life of a Sniff. This was the last stage of the tribute where she requested humbly asking: “can he be inked?” This was more than freelance, this was feeling. Every line was done with heart, and celebrating the life of a friend forever loved that was Journey Sniff.

The Queen’s Birthday Sketch Revel

Other translations to my terms and definitions, dogs are Sniffs, espresso is God’s Go Go Juice, and my wife I have since day one referred to as “The Queen.” Our following on TikTok wanted to know who the “we” was on our page, and it seemed like a good opportunity to celebrate her birthday, and show hey, I can do portraits too! Not so much a process reel, more of a cool pans, and final sketch giving another example of art style I provide.

Pedro Albizu Campos, Puerto Rican Attorney and Politician, Inking

I married into a Puerto Rican family. It was import to not just download Duolingo, but also learn about the history, hardship, and heritage of the people on the island. There was no voice louder, and that had more of an impact even today, than Pedro Albizu Campos. Here is the final inking of his tribute piece.

Oasis Reunion Tour Sketch

The Queen loves, and I mean loves Oasis. They went from being THE band of the 90’s, to later doing a world wide reunion tour. I am not sure if the Gallagher Brothers saw this tribute based on their iconic reunion promotional photo shoot, but either way, it is out there for all to see. Maybe even them eventually. Pencil sketch celebrating their return to touring a world full of fans.

Queen Bird Hawk Sketch Reveal

What can I say, I love her, and she loves hawks, and Jordans. There has been a hawk that comes to visit her almost every week, if not every 3 days, even out on walks, the same hawk stops to say hi to us. Wanted to show another style, while still capturing her personality.

Jellyfish in Love Sketch

They are cute, they are small, they are in love, they are jellyfish.

Biblical Characters, Eglah, Wife of King David Sketch

Another often overlooked character in the Bible, Eglah, one of King David’s wives. There is not a lot of information on all of the women who were in his life, but there are records of the regions they hailed from. This would be another addition to the Joab and Friends cartoon mentioned earlier.

The Story of Christmas Comic, The Angel Appears to Zechariah Foretelling the Birth of Jesus Christ

Christmas of 2024 there was a whole challenge on TikTok to do Christmas themed artwork so I did a comic retelling the Gospel of Luke, when the Angel appeared to Zechariah telling him the Prophecy of the Birth of the Savior was about to happen. Comics are cool, Christmas is fun, combining them seemed the right answer, and a way to show I can do storyboards.

Biblical Characters, Zeruiah, Sister of King David, and Mother of Joab, Abishai, and Asahel , Sketch

This may be one of the toughest Moms in all of all time. She gave birth not to 1, not 2, but 3 of the mightiest warriors in Biblical history. There were no smartphones back then, but feel she would have been something like this.

Wolf Cartoon Sketch

Just cute, happy little wolf sketch to showcase another concepting style.

Jesus Christ the Savior, Sketch

The one who gives me the ability to do all of this.
